Vicat Apparatus

Vicat’s test is used to determine the amount of water required to produce a standard consistency cement paste and the setting time. The instrument consists of a metal frame, graduated scale with index, 300 g sliding probe, Ø 10 mm consistency piston, glass base plate. The test procedure consists of a needle / probe that freely falls into a concrete sample at regular intervals and in fixed positions, the depth of penetration being measured.
